Kourtney Smith, MS, LAPC
Mental Health Counselor
Kourtney Smith is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor who brings compassion, creativity, and flexibility to her work with first responders and their families. With experience in both outpatient and inpatient psychiatric settings, she supports children, teens, and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.

Kourtney takes an integrative, client-centered approach, meeting each person where they’re at with a blend of talk therapy, Brainspotting, Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), expressive arts, and play-based techniques. She is currently completing advanced training in Animal-Assisted Psychotherapy, and her co-therapist—NaKoa (“Koa”), a therapy dog in training—will soon join sessions to provide additional comfort and connection.

Kourtney earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology and Behavioral Health from the University of North Dakota, and her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. Her approach is grounded in authenticity and respect for each individual’s story, culture, and communication style.

When she’s not working, Kourtney can be found hiking, reading, lifting weights, or enjoying time with her two dogs, Koa and Bumper. She’s also a lifelong Disney fan.
